The Fort Stockton Panthers met Monahans in Pecos on Friday, February 21st to decide who would get the 3rd and 4th seed for the first round of the playoffs next week. The Panthers fought back from a 11 point deficit after the first quarter, cutting the lead all the way down to 2 in the third, but ultimately fell short 60-49. Jesse Franco led all scorers with 13 points, while Colby Garrison and Erik Bislar finished in double digits, as well. The Panthers will face Clint in Van Horn on Tuesday for Bi-District....

LEVELLAND, TEXAS (Feb. 20, 2020)— The Prowlers traveled to Levelland, Texas tonight to and fell to #1 Canyon High School 13-92. The Prowlers took an early lead of 3-2 with a 3-pointer from senior Rebecca Rodriguez. After taking the lead, the Prowlers struggled to score without catching a rhythm the rest of the night. The team played valiantly and never quit. Although the Prowlers’ season ended early, this does not define their extraordinary achievements this season. The Prowlers ended the 2019-2020 season with a winning record of 18-16, a district record of 6-2 and as bi-district champions. The team, coaches and fans would like to recognize seniors Katie Salmon, Rebecca Rodriguez, Jocelyn Lujan, Dania Mendoza and Alexi Rivera once again. These young ladies, along with the rest of the team, logged hours of work for the last four years to perfect their craft. They leave huge shoes to fill for the underclassmen, but they’ve laid out the blueprint for the underclassmen after having had three years of playoff runs. Each year they’ve built on the previous years’ success. The Prowler Basketball Program thanks these seniors for everything that they have done and continue to do. We, the basketball program, wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. VAN HORN, TEXAS (Feb. 18, 2020)— The Fort Stockton Prowlers defeated Clint in the bi-district championship at Van Horn High School with a score of 60-46. In doing so, the Prowlers etched their names in the record books by winning the girls basketball programs first-ever playoff game. The Prowlers started fast in the first quarter getting Clint down 13-7. Starting hot out of the gates for the Prowlers was Katie Salmon who had 8 of her 32 points in the first quarter. Clint outscored the Prowlers in the second quarter 14-13 and alps in the third quarter 15-14. However, in the third the Prowlers came to life with Rebecca Rodriguez scoring six of her 13 points and Jocelyn Lujan scoring all four of her points. The fourth quarter started with a score of 40-36 in favor of the Prowlers. Two things simultaneously happened, number one Katie Salmon took over the game scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter and number two Clint finally ran out of gas as the Prowlers outscored them 20-10. Coach Norris stated, “This victory was for the seniors. They’ve believed in the program and have given up so much to finally hoist a trophy as bi-district champions. It was amazing to see the celebrations from the fans, families and most especially the players. A big thank you goes out to seniors Katie Salmon, Rebecca Rodriguez, Jocelyn Lujan, Dania Mendoza and Alexi Rivera.” The Prowlers next game will be in the Area Round of the UIL Girls Basketball Playoffs. The Panthers hosted the Fort Stockton Power Classic today in Panther Gym. With five racks set up and 237 lifters ready to go the panthers went out and competed their hearts out. The unfortunately ended up finishing in second losing on tie breaker rule to once again Andrew. Both Fort Stockton and Andrew finished with 47 team points each. Due to Andrews have three, first place finishers and Fort Stockton only having two that gave the championship right to Andrews. Fort Stockton JV Girls traveled to Andrews to compete in the Andrews Invitational and finished third overall. Aranely De La Rosa shot a 109, Reanna Losoya 110, Felicity Subia 116, Gabriela Galindo 140, and Andrea Aguirre 153. We only have 7 girls with 2 still in basketball, I'm real proud of these young ladies. Next Tournament is the Fort Stockton Invitational February 21-22....

Fort Stockton Boys JV had their first golf outing of the season. Andrew Rangel 104, Aiden Rayos 123, Cade Bayer 124, Gabriel Murphy 130 and Ali Hernandez 135. The boys didn't place but improved as the day went on. Next Tournament is the Ft. Stockton invitational February 21-22....
