The Panthers JV traveled to Sonora, Texas Thursday night to take on the varsity squad of Menard. The Panthers had a rough first half going into the break trailing 40-6. After a big pep talk by Athletic Director Mike Peters the Panthers came out playing a tremendous second half. The Yellow Jackets went on the win with a final score of 46-22.
Stand out job to running back Shane Velasquez who rushed for 2 touchdowns and a two point conversion. Shane carried the ball 15 times for well over 160 yards on the ground.
Bryan Lee Rivera scored the first touchdown of the game on a solid 6 yard run through the guts of the defensive.
The defensive came out in the second half firing on all cylinders. They gave up zero points to the Yellow Jacket offense allowing only 2 first downs the entire second half. GREAT JOB PANTHER DEFENSE.
This being the JV's first contest of the year they fall to 0-1 on the season but look to bounce back against the Chiefs of Lakeview in a couple of weeks.
