The Panthers Powerlifting team traveled to Monahans on Saturday January 11th to compete in the Monahans Sandhills Powerlifting Invitational. This being their first meet of the year the Panthers came out with a strong showing taking home 3rd place as team and bringing home nine individual medals.
Bringing home medals for the Panther were;
Senior Andrik Ramirez who got 2nd place in the 114 pound weight class totaling 685 pounds,
Sophomore Kendrick Porras who got 2nd place in the 123 pound weight class totaling 765 pounds,
Sophomore Cristian Garcia who got 1st place in the 132 pound weight class totaling 785 pound,
Senior Juan Salgado who got 1st place in the 148 pound weight class totaling 1130 pounds,
Senior Gabriel Calzada who got 4th place in the 165 pound weight class totaling 1050 pounds,
Senior Uber Granado who got 5th place in the 165 pound weight class totaling 990 pounds,
Senior Donnie De La Cruz who got 3rd place in the 242 lbs weight class totaling 1170 pounds,
Junior Edgar Flores who got 5th place in the 242 lbs weight class totaling 1150 pounds,
and Senior J.T. Gomez who got 3rd place in the SHW(Super Heavy Wight) weight class totaling 1225 pounds.
Very proud of all the young men that competed and look forward to what they and a few more teammates will bring to the table next week in Alpine.
