The Prowlers beat Pecos tonight at the SEC by a score of 61-31. The team came out hot in the first half outscoring Pecos 33-6. The Prowlers were in need of the win as they were on a four game skid. The team was led by Katie Salmon who had 21 points, was a beast on the boards and was spot on with her passes. Rebecca Rodriguez, 12 points and Alexis Holmquist, 10 points were both excellent running the floor and in the half-court offense. The other seniors Dania Mendoza and Jocelyn Lujan were excellent. Mendoza was aggressive both defensively and driving to the basket. She ended with four points. Lujan provided one of the more exciting defensive plays when she took a charge right in front of the Prowler bench. The team still needs work, but tonight was definite step in the right direction.

The Prowlers’ record now moves to 1-1 in district play and 11-14 overall. Records around the district are as follows: Seminole 2-0, Andrews 2-0, Monahans 1-2, Fort Stockton 1-1 and Pecos 1-2.

Prowlers will travel to Andrews next Tuesday, January 21, to play the Lady Mustangs at 6:00 p.m.

Scoring: Katie Salmon 21 points, Becca Rodriguez 12 points, Alexis Holmquist- 10 points, Alyana Dominguez and Lyric Williams- 6 points each, Dania Mendoza- 4 points, Jocelyn Lujan and Elyanah Calderon- 2 points each, Kylie Ruiz- 1 point.
