The Prowlers lost their second district game tonight to Seminole by a final score of 62-34. Even though the score was eerily similar to the previous game vs. Seminole, the game was significantly different. The Prowlers started the game and played perhaps their best defensive quarter of the season. The first quarter ended with the Prowlers ahead 8-6. The second quarter was much the same until the final two minutes before the half. The Prowlers, again in foul trouble, struggled to finish the half. The team went into half time down 23-18. The Prowlers came out of the half and went immediately back to work closing the lead back down to three points at 27-24. However, that was the closest the game would get. Seminole got hot in third quarter and the Prowlers struggled to score. Seminole outscored the Prowlers 24-5 in the third quarter. The Prowlers could have quit, but they came out and were only outscored by four points by Seminole in the fourth quarter. The girls left it all on the court. They played extremely hard and, except for the third quarter, matched a very good Seminole team in both intensity and execution. The Prowlers have a lot to be proud of. They did their school and the town proud.
The Prowlers’ record now moves to 3-2 in district play and 14-15 overall. Records around the district are as follows: Seminole 6-0, Andrews 3-2, Monahans 2-4, Fort Stockton 3-2 and Pecos 0-6.
The Prowlers will head to Pecos to play the Pecos Lady Eagles on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m.
Scoring: Katie Salmon- 6 points, Becca Rodriguez- 8 points, Alyana Dominguez- 7 points, Alexis Holmquist- 4 points, Jocelyn Lujan and Eliana Mata- 3 points each, Elyanah Calderon- 2 points, Kylie Ruiz- 1 point.
