Panthers lose 14 to 11 to Big Spring

Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity stayed in it until the end, but Big Spring pulled away late in a 14-11 victory on Friday. The game was tied at five with Big Spring batting in the top of the fifth.

Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity collected six hits and Big Spring had 14 in the high-scoring affair.

Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity got things started in the first inning. Evian Castro tripled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity evened things up at five in the bottom of the fourth inning. Dominic Bernal grounded out, scoring one run.

After Big Spring scored one run in the top of the sixth, Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity answered with one of their own. Big Spring drew a walk, scoring one run. Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity then answered when Antoine Garcia doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity notched three runs in the seventh inning. The offensive firepower by Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity was led by Devon Rodriguez, Bernal, and Cruz Rojas, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Isias Dominguez was on the mound for Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity. The pitcher surrendered five runs on three hits over two and a third innings, striking out four. Alfredo Molina, Garcia, and Castro each contributed in relief for Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity.

Castro led Fort Stockton Panthers Varsity with two hits in four at-bats.
