JV Prowler Softball Wins Round Robin

The Sub Varsity Prowlers travelled to Marfa today to play in a round robin tournament. The Prowlers defeated Pecos, Marfa, and Van Horn.

Game 1: Pecos vs FS (19-4)
Junior Alex Cook pitched an outstanding game against Pecos this morning. She allowed 1-2 hits the entire game. Struck out numerous batters as well. She also contributed with her hitting that gave us a lead early in the first inning. Alex Cook was the winning pitcher of the game. Sophomore Yadira Hernandez caught for Alex and did an awesome job.

Game 2: Marfa vs FS (15-0)
Junior Kassidy Montanez pitched the entire game, picking up her first win of the season. Kassidy worked hard in the circle battling out of bases loaded situations. She worked to get 9 strikeouts in the game. She also added runs to the board with her hitting. Freshman Sophie Hernandez was a wall behind the plate and also had several RBI’s.

Game 3: Van Horn Vs FS (7-5)
Freshman Sabrina Cook took the mound for the last game. She also took her first high school win. She battled to keep the opponents runs to 5 as well as striking out batters. Cook never let the close game effect her pitching. She held strong throughout the game. Sabrina Cook was another strong hitter throughout the 3 games. She added hits, stolen bases, and RBI’s.


Overall top hitters for the day: Alex Cook, Kassidy Montanez, Sabrina Cook, Arissa Gonzalez, Sophie Hernandez, Yadira Hernandez, Yanet Rodriguez.

Freshman Amaya Urias reached on base with numerous hit by pitches throughout the day as well as defensive put outs at second and first base.

Senior Savannah Rodriguez contributed with a couple hits and runs scored.

Positives: Double plays, stolen bases, aggressive base running, communication, good attitudes, hustle plays, getting the lead runner out.


The Prowlers have next week off (Spring Break) as of right now.
