The Fort Stockton Panthers had an impressive win over the rival Alpine Bucks on Friday by a score of 46-10. The win avenged last seasons loss to the Bucks and improved Fort Stockton's record to 2-0 on the season.
The Panthers took control early on with 46 yard touchdown run from quarterback Dominic Aguilar on the first possession of the game. Aguilar scored again with on a 6 yard run to give the Panthers a 13-0 first quarter lead. The Panther defense was tough throughout the game. Big defensive stops and a turnover recovery allowed Fort Stockton great field position to capitalize. Another TD run by Aguilar combined with a 14 yard score from sophomore Corbin Luna gave the Panthers a 27-0 lead at the break.
The second half was more of the same with the Panthers playing tough and physical on the defensive side of the ball. Alpine managed a field goal and a late touchdown but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Aguilar added his 5th score of the night early in the 4th quarter and Jaydrien Ramirez capped off the scoring with an impressive 70 yard run to bring the final score to 46-10, Fort Stockton
The Panthers move to 2-0 on the season and will host the Clint Horizon Scorpions on Friday September 10th. The game will be a 7:00 pm kick off at Panther Stadium
