Fort Stockton, Texas (Sept. 5, 2021) - Fort Stockton's Volleyball program had an abundance of pink sitting out on the crowd on Tuesday night. The Prowlers hosted their annual "Pink Out" game to honor those who are survivors, recently diagnosed or who have lost their battle with cancer. Players from each of the teams within the program were able to honor individuals within the community for their courage, bravery and resilience. Fans from both Fort Stockton and Andrews showed their support by ending the presentation with a standing ovation for all those who have been affected by cancer.
Although the night was one of celebration, the Prowlers had another thing on their mind. They were vying for their first district win of the season. The JV team was hungry for a victory. With the support of fans and the Mighty Fort Stockton Band, the Prowlers downed the Andrews Lady Mustangs 20-25, 25-14, and 25-16.
Junior Arissa Gonzalez held the line in the back row tallying 17 digs for the Prowlers and one ace. Junior Ashlyn Marquez recorded 8 kills and 4 digs. Freshman Mia Garcia added 9 assists, 3 digs and 1 ace. Junior JazLynn Pacheco added 7 kills and 7 digs. Junior Angie Aguirre tallied 5 kills, while Junior Katheryn Mendoza added 4 kills.
Coach Ramirez said, "I told my athletes that this has been a long time coming. They have been putting in the work that it takes to be successful and they're finally being rewarded. Winning is a  great feeling, but seeing my athletes come together for something bigger than themselves...is even better. This is the future of Prowler Volleyball and I am excited to say that the future is looking pretty bright. Thank you Fort Stockton! We appreciate your support at our home games. We couldn't do it without you all! Prowler fans are the best fans!"
The Prowlers will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 8 at the Bill and Virginia Williams Special Events Center (SEC). Fort Stockton will host Pecos in a district matchup.
