Fort Stockton, Texas (Nov. 22, 2021)- Fort Stockton’s JV Blue team kept their win streak alive with a 41-26 victory over Presidio.
The game commenced with a burst of offense from the Prowlers. In the first quarter, the offense was able to gain an 11-4 lead and never trail the Lady Blue Devils.
With an even distribution of scoring, all but one of the Prowlers were able to secure buckets. Efforts for the offense were led by the junior duo Kat Mendoza and Mayrene Bernal who each scored 7. Sophomore Janean Gonzalez added a handful of steals, while also adding 5 points. Juniors Yadira Hernandez and Yvette Lopez added 4 points, while playing textbook defense and denying passes. Sophomore Melena Ramirez added 3 points. Sophomore Pricilla Trevino added 2 points and was a strong defensive presence. Juniors Estrella Aguilar and Aubrianna Whitecotton added 2 points a piece. Freshmen Dmya Vaughn and Aubrey Jones each recorded 2 points. Rounding out scoring was Liz Bislar with 1 point.
Coach Sera Ramirez stated, “This is the Prowler basketball that the fans love to see. Just about everybody on the team scored and we plays great defense. We are still trying to find a way to execute on our uncontested shots, but a win prior to the break is a great feeling.”
The Prowler basketball program will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 30 in Stanton against New Home.
