The Prowlers Basketball team finished the last two days of the Fredericksburg tournament with a record of 1-2. In Friday's first game, they fell to a talented, former
State Runner Up Liberty Hill team, 58-23. Alyana Dominguez led the Prowlers in scoring against the stout Liberty Hill defense with 11 points, followed by Eliana Mata 5, Alexia Galindo and Amaya Urias had 3, Adree Bueno 1. In the second game of the Prowlers faced Mason. With a 24-20 score at halftime, after well executed first half by the Prowlers, they eventually lost to the Cowgirls 53-22, with numerous turnovers and poor execution. Alyana Dominguez and Eliana Mata led the scoring with 9 and 8 points respectively. Mia Garcia had 3 points and Keanna Torres had 2 for the game. In the Prowlers Saturday game, they defeated Sinton, 56-7. The Prowlers suffocating defense kept pressure on the Sinton team for 32 minutes, causing several miscues for Sinton and transition scoring for the Prowlers. The Prowlers had a well executed offensive game and also scored a team total of 8 three point shots made during the game. Alyana Dominguez scored 27 points and sank five shots from beyond the three point line. Alexia Galindo followed with 9 points and a three point basket. Mia Garcia had 7 points. Eliana Mata scored 5 points and led the team with 8 assists. Torres had 6 points and Amaya Urias 2 points. Mata and Torres also scored a three point basket during the game. Prowlers next game will against San Angelo Lakeview Tuesday, 6:00 in the SEC.
