Fort Stockton, Texas (Dec. 30, 2021) - The Fort Stockton Prowler Basketball program took the court in the Bill and Virginia Williams Special Events Venter (SEC) after a holiday hiatus. The Prowlers hosted the Del Rio Queens and kept the victory train rolling with a nail biting 44-42 win.
Leading the offensive charge: Yadira Hernandez 10 points, Dmya Vaughn eight points, Yvette Lopez six points, Priscilla Trevino five points, Mayrene Bernal four points, Janean Gonzalez three points, Estrella Aguilar two points, Kat Mendoza two points, Alahna Flores two points, and Aubrey Jones two points.
Jaci Valenzuela added two rebounds, while Bernal and Vaughn added three a piece. Lopez tallied three assists. Trevino, Aguilar and Vaughn each added one assist.
Coach Sera Ramirez stated, “Defensively, these athletes have it figured out. We, as a team, need to figure out how to be offensive players. We have about a week before our first district game, so we will have it figured out come game time.”
Prowler basketball is back in action on Friday, December 31. Cheer on the the Prowlwrs in the last game of 2021 with JV at 11:30 a.m. and varsity at 1 p.m.
