Fort Stockton JV Girls Basketball drops to 1-1 in district play

Fort Stockton, Texas (Jan. 11, 2022) - Fort Stockton’s Girls Basketball program hosted district opponent the Seminole Maidens on Tuesday night. The Prowlers fought hard, but were unable to secure a victory, losing 25-55.

In the loss, some moments of offensive brilliance were executed. Yvette Lopez attacked the Seminole defense and was able to score 15 points. Katheryn Mendoza capitalized in key steals by the Prowlers and added five points. Janean Gonzalez and Yadira Hernandez added two points each. Lastly, Priscilla Trevino ended the Prowler scoring with one point.

Lopez was the Lone Ranger with a solo block on the night. Aubrey Jones, a freshman, proved her dominance by securing five rebounds. Aubrianna Whitecotton, Dmya Vaughn and Mayrene Bernal each added two rebounds. Adding one board were Estrella Aguilar and Krysten Zuniga.

Coach Sera Ramirez stated, "In our regular season, not counting tournament play, we only have five losses and are 8-5 on the season. Tonight's loss might sting a little, but it is part of our growing. We need to continue to take baby steps towards being successful."

The Prowlers will head to Greenwood on Friday, Jan. 14. Games are slated to being at 4:30 p.m.
