The second of two Panther Powerlifting teams traveled to Alpine this morning to compete in their Fighting Bucks Powerlifting Invitational. This young squad came up three points short of bringing home the team championship, to a veteran filled Monahans team. The final team score was Monahans 42 and our Panthers 39. The Panther lifters were able to secure seven individual medals including three golds, three silvers, and one bronze. Sophomore Isaiah Ureste competed in his first ever meet and brought home the GOLD and seven team points for the Panthers! He was joined by senior Daniel Renteria and junior Jovany Hernandez who brought home the gold as well. With there being two traveling teams this weekend I need to give a big shout out to Coach Vic Ivy for stepping up and driving these young men on his Saturday off, along with some past Panthers and a Prowler for helping guide these young men through the day. Returning to make a difference were 2021 graduates Diego Renteria, Roy Bislar, Jaylee Ibarra and 2019 graduate Kiara Renteria. Again thank you for filling our void and giving our young men a chance to compete and get better! The Panthers will host the Fort Stockton Power Classic in two week on Saturday February 12th. It is going to be a lot of fun, so come out and support your hometown team!
